Greetings, and welcome to the Book of Traceable Heraldic Art.
I am Mathghamhain Ua Ruadháin, known in modern life as Matthew Simon Ryan Cavalletto.
In the summer of 2016, I developed an interest in armorial design as practiced in the Society for Creative Anachronism, and started putting together a collection of clip art to teach myself the vocabulary and to facilitate drawing emblazons for local participants. A few months later, I heard about an effort to revitalize the Pennsic Traceable Art collection, which had gone a decade without being updated. I volunteered to help, and as one thing led to another, I found myself spending the subsequent years developing this site and its supporting material.
Of course I couldn't have have accomplished all of this without the contributions of the many people who have shared illustrations, pointed me towards new sources, spotted errors, and provided feedback. I've tried to thank them all by name in the periodic posts in my project blog, and I apologize if I've accidentally omitted anyone. If you'd like to join the team, you can read about how to contribute your art to the collection.
For additional information about me and my other heraldic interests, you can visit the author's page on my heraldry blog.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or feedback about this site or related matters.
