Neutral fur, related to vair. Two contrasting tinctures. Blazoned “papellony tincture and tincture.” See also the papellony field treatment, which is blazoned “tincture papellony tincture.”

Term is French, suggesting the scales of a butterfly wing. Very rare in period armory.
